Blacktips of Terra Ceia Bay

Working beside marine biologist Jayne Loewy, our goals are to document the annual migration of juvenile Blacktip sharks that are born in Terra Ceia Bay by the use of specialized underwater tracking sonar units. Studies find that, like Salmon, adult Blacktip sharks also commonly return to their place of birth for give birth.
Over population and increased human activities within the Bay may impact the annual migration of these sharks and the balance of the ecosystem they have thieved in.

Lost to the Underworld: Following the path of the Maya

Working closely with SEDUMA (Yucatan's Geological Dept) and INAH (Mexico's Archeological Dept) our team has provided an atlas of previously unknown sites, discovered multiple ancient Maya sites, and assisted with the recovery and preservation of priceless cultural relics.

Our next expedition moves us into a new “uncharted” zone located to the southeast of Merida.

Warm Mineral Springs

Ten thousand years ago giant ice sheets covered most of North America. At that time, Florida had a climate more like North Carolina, unlike the subtropical climate it has today. The vegetation consisted of large grassy plains and thick forests of oak and hickory trees. A variety of animals including Wooly Elephants, Giant Ground Sloths, North American Camels, Saber-Toothed Cats, and many other species, roamed throughout Florida.
